Have you owned or played an ibanez iceman?

Re: Have you owned or played an ibanez iceman?

Whoa...dead thread! I actually owned and played a white Iceman which was an amazing guitars. If I remember it had S70 and S80 pickups on it (this was 1984ish) and I think the S stood for Super. I also had a Paul Stanley autograph model with the glass pickplate and mother of pearl fret markers. Looked lovely but didn't growl as much as the Iceman. I was doing a gig and the Iceman fell off the stage and the fretboard came away from the neck. A guy in the audience offered me £300 for it and I took it. Wish I hadn't cos I'd some art on it that people have copied...see picsbrose0006.jpgWoto-1.jpg I also had a destroyer...brose0004.jpg

Don't ya hate it when that happens. Still, only three years gone. It still has some flesh left on it.

I'm wondering what the body shape feels like and whether or not the guitar has a super thin shred neck or is more vintage inspired. By the look of most of them, seems like a shred machine.

Sitting down, it was the most comfortable electric I've ever played. I didn't care for the super flat radius and did a deal with forum bro ArtieToo who seems to really like it. I dig the shape and felt the design including the tummy cut in the back was super comfortable and made for a great guitar.

EDIT: Sorry, once again I didn't look at the original date of the post–just saw the title and replied to the OP

Don't own an actual Ibby but my favorite guitar is an Iceman Build; USACG Quarter-Sawn Maple Neck/Warmoth Mahogany Body in Pearl White, and the Body is def well balanced and comfortable either sitting or standing.

I have been playing Icemen since I was a wee lad. One of the best sounding, playing and most comfortable guitars I have ever owned.

Yup! Love it. For exactly the reason you state. The long lower horn makes for perfect sitting down lap playing. The guitar is also very light. (This is a lower line 2004 MIK ICX120BK. However, I love MIK guitars.) I have GFS Dream 90's in it and it's perfect for casual home/studio noodlin'. The neck is thin, but not too thin. Fits my hand comfortably.

I wouldn't mind trying a higher level model sometime. If the price is right.

I played a Fireman at the store a few times. I did not dislike it one bit. Light and comfortable. Seems like a Strat but not exactly. I was actually inspired to buy the same injector pickups.

I've actually considered doing an Iceman build from Warmoth so I can get that comfortable body shape with a Fender Style neck with the radius and dimensions I like.

Re: Have you owned or played an ibanez iceman?

I just stumbled on this 1967 Yamaha Samari. It looks like the Iceman was not Ibanez's original design.

That is very interesting! I actually like the design and that is crazy, the lower horn looks just like the Iceman.
