Just saw an ad in a trade mag for these. Interesting concept...not one I'm personally interested in at the moment, but I'm always curious about new technology.

Here's a great demo vid:

I gotta give them a hand...they sounded incredible when I tried them at NAMM.

In the vids they sound great and after watching a couple, I'm more intrigued by the design. However, having to deal with a battery is not something I'd want to do. How much of a pita is dealing with a battery in a guitar?

Unplug the guitar cable when you're not using it, and change the battery when you change the battery in your smoke detector. :D

What I thought was cool was that you could get a backplate battery back that uses a mini-USB plug so you just plug it into a charger instead of changing batteries.

+1^ No crap man. I have two guitars with active electronics and both sound great and neither is any more a maintenance issue than any other guitar. They have been putting 9 volts in guitars for 40 years. Nothing to flip out about folks.

Just saw this on ye olde y00t00b. Larry Fishman talks about the Fluence designs and introductory product line. Sounds neato.

Re: Have you seen or heard the new Fishman Fluence pups?

keep trying to decide between which version of the humbucker... the alnico PAF-HotRod or the ceramic HotRod-Modern. I keep leaning toward the alnico, but the word I keep hearing about both is that they are blowing people's clean off. when most of the new stuff from SD lately has been focused on doom/black/stoner metal, those voicings are refefreshing. I could get back to work on the voicing for my own custom model again... but I can't get past the name.... The Force? Phineas PhatCat? DarthBucker? oh well, back to my armored space station to wait for the shuttle to arrive with the Fishman Fluence.

The clean sounds were very dynamic but the dirty sounds were less impressive.
