Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

These sound interesting. They're using MOSFET power amp circuitry with a 12AT7 in the power amp - not the preamp like most hybrids. The heads and larger combo also have built-in effects. I'd like to try one of these out after reading a hands on review from the latest MF catalog.

Link? I think it's inevitable that SS companies are going to have to integrate preamp tubes into their designs, in order to get good touch sensitivity.

Line 6 had better jump on this soon, or there's going to be a lot of companies making better sounding modelers. I have a feeling that L6 will either do this, or they'll figure out a way of keeping it solid state, but achieving the same result.

This one's different because the tube is in the power amp instead of the pre-an interesting twist.

The Vox Valvetronix series has a tube just in the power amp stage, too, doesn't it?

I noticed the G2 series Randall I was already interested in buying is only $20 or so cheaper than the G3 that replaces it. Guess I have to put off a decision 'til Feb now...:smack:

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

Yeah, the Vox has the one tube as part of the poweramp circuit.

(at least they say it does, I haven't gutted one to see!)

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

The G3 series does sound promising! I am completely satisfied with the older RG (The gen 1) for metal tones.

Apart from that, one needs to listen each amp line. Musical instrument amplifiers are not always "slam-dunks" when a new series or model comes out. These are not like TV sets or most cars. The history of guitar amps is littered with many cases where the "new improved" design is a step back. I am not saying that the G3 series will be a dud...you just have to get out there and play 'em to see what you like.

Man my old Randall RG120ES head was great, never should have sold it. Best SS amp I ever used.

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

Big thread by the head engineer at Randall over at HC a few months back about this technology...Funny you should mention this as I was just talking to ErikH about these this morning.

I'll give one a try for the $.

Yup those older RG heads RAWKED!

Those new B52 SS heads are pretty close Scott.

Yeah. it would be great to try one out first. I've been through that returning an amp crap where it costs $60 to send one back. Does GC carry the Randall line?

I was thumbing through the new MF catalog that came today and stumbled upon it. I'm starting to itch for something different.............

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

yeah..I need a new amp too...bad...I'm really tired of modelling.

None of the GC's I've been in have Randall, nor does SamA$$.

I'll hafta go mail order if I want one.

HA HA HA! It is time to go to your local mom and pop music store! I did!

Yeah, the head with effects is getting to me (the RH150DG3). I kinda like that Avatar 2x12 also-the black with black metal grill. GAS..................

No one's gonna believe there's a place named Cucamonga.

Doin' more research, boy I'd love to hear how the MTS line sounds. Being able to put tube driven modules such as a Rectifier, Bogner XTC, Plexi, Blackface, etc. and getting all of those tones from one amp would be incredible-if they sound good enough to justify the cost.

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

It's easy to put down SS technology, but man, when I heard Sevendust live with those things, I'd be lying if I said I didn't dig the tones.

Re: Have you seen these new Randall's with the Valve-dynamic technology?

I've never liked the tone in ANY L6 modeling products. Thin, buzzy, and harsh. The Spider II my buddy has is a perfect example of what I DON'T want my amps to sound like.
