THen I'd like to say, check out these Poland builders, they have some very good ones... hell, you could even travel to Poland by train from Belgium to check their place out?
Order from there and you don't need to sell all of your guitars, they are, or at least were, cheap!

There is a builder quite nearby from where I live who does seem to do a good job... time to compare :)

I'd say sell them both and buy a Fender Custom Shop guitar!! A Warmoth may not live up to your expectations at the end of the build, but a Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele? daaaaaaaaaayum.

...Or you may wind up with a custom-made guitar that you're not thrilled about. At that point, your cash outlay vs the low resale value will be an issue.

Out of the hundreds of thousands of existing guitars in this country, with more being made every day, what do you think you're going to get with a custom, that's not out there now, that's different enough to justify the expense. I can't see that you could come up with something that hasn't already been done many times before, unless you really get into something weird (and not resellable).

Modify an existing guitar.

Sounds like a terrible idea to me.

A list of great specs does not ensure a great instrument. You could have everything exaclty how you (think) you want it and still not be as happy with that guitar as one off the shelf that seems less perfect on paper, but connects with you physically and aurally. If instruments were purely the sum of their parts, there would be a LOT less discussion around here.

I say, order a custom if you feel it's right for you, but if it means you'll have to eat macaroni and cheese for a year after it aint worth it...
At the time I ordered mine I had the money to do so, and I don't regret it at all. I still kept 2 other guitars, but this is now my main axe.
It's a certain feeling to have a guitar that noone on the planet have, made excactly after your specifications, but I'd never done it if it would mean I'd get broke...
You could compare it with buying a very expensive car, you really don't need a flashy expensive car, in reality you only need a safe car that suits you and take you from A to B, but if you can afford one and your interest is cars, of course it's worth it?

I hate to step on any toes, but you have never pointed out what is missing in the two "really great" guitars you want to throw away. If you can't describe what is missing...then how are you going to find it by scratch-building one that you've never even heard one like? How do you know what to put in this $3000 jewel? How do you know what you need different than what you have? I am ALL for you getting a custom made guitar. That is a Great idea. I just want you to do MUCH more research (playing every guitar you can find..anywhere!) and noting all the things you like and dis-like about all of them. Then compile all your notes (at least several hundred guitars) and pick out all the things you like, really like and absolutely love! Also all the things you dislike, hate and loathe. Than you can decide what you want in your "personal" $3000 keep-for-the-rest-of-my-life guitar. Just my opinion.

I must admit, you somewhat have a point :)

The past two days I really have been looking up al sort of things so I know what to order and stuff... it's still a long way and it will possibly take a few week before I 've figured out what I want.

The first guitar sounds pretty good, but is a bolt on which really starts to irritate me, since the upper frets are hard to acces. The second guitar isn't bad either but the finish is a little too thick and the fretboard isn't really that great (and some other minor stuff). And the thing I just figured out, they both lack a little bit of definition.... not the guitars fault, they are tuned to B standard and I think I would be better of with a 26.5" or 27" scale for tuning that low
