HB Alnico 5 Magnet -vs- HB Alnico 2 Magnet => are they different weights ?

Hey all

Ive got a few spare HB Alnico 5 and HB Alnico 2 magnets laying around but the texta markings I had written on them to tell them apart have worn off and now I cant tell or recall which is which ?!?!?

From my *vague* distant memory I *seem* to recall (?) that HB Alnico 5 magnets weigh [relatively] quite a bit more than HB Alnico 2 Magnets (?)

Is this true / accurate ?

In total I have 5 x HB Alnico spares ..... 3 of them weigh between 740g <-> 760g ..... and 2 of them weigh between 490g <-> 510g.

So does that mean that the "heavier" ones are Alnico 5 and the "lighter" ones are Alnico 2 ?

Color / shade / finish / sheen wise etc... .... they all look pretty much the same.

No.

OTOH, ceramic mags weight a lot less than any alnico grade.

You could probably tell them apart by sticking them to the refrigerator door. The A5s are stronger and should be a little bit harder to pull off.

if you put them in the same pup, you should be able to tell which is which since they are pretty tonally different
