I've wanted one ever since they reissued them as a Guitar of the Week. I've come rather close to buying one on a few occasions. I just wasn't into the $1169 price tag, eventhough I thought that was still a good price on them. I just saw they were marked down to $899 and so I jumped all over one. I've never been a big silverburst fan, but I like the way they look on these guitar for some reason.

I'll give you all a rundown on it when it gets here.:)

I had played some of the old all maple ones years ago and didn't really care for them. I'm looking foward to this all mahogany version.

I haven't liked Silverburst before either, but that could be pretty darn cool! Funky body, what is that? That mahogany will sound pretty great too

Oh btw, last time you called I was in my car. It's illegal to talk on the phone now, which sucks all kinds of ass.

It's a Gibson RD model. Here's some better pics (from an auction) of what they look like...alot better than the stock photo anyways.

It's also a 25.5" inch scale as well and has Dirty Fingers pickups in it.

LOL...I really should throw some props towards Jerry. We were talkin on the phone today and he told me he had just played one at a buddy's house today. He said he just loved the guitar. I decided to look around and found them at a great price. Like I said, I've wanted one since they reissued them as a guitar of the week, but I probably never would have even looked for them today had we not spoken. Thanks Jerry.:)

First silverburst I actually like.
Looks great Jolly.
Come to think of it that silverburst will look pretty bad ass in your kitchen with the crazy with and black tiles.

Cool deal! I had a solid maple RD Artist (I think it was a 77 model) a few years back I tried and tried to like because I was really into the way it looked but truth is it was a terrible guitar. I played one of the new ones a few days ago and it was a MUCH better guitar than the one I had, you should dig it...the dirty fingers would have to go for me but if you want LOUD and ROCK thjey'll do that!

I bet that old school maple one weighed a ton....lol. I always liked the looks out of the old ones, and I was glad (a few months ago) when I saw the new ones were all mahogany.

I haven't played any of the new Dirty Fingers pickups. I remember being in my late teens/early 20's playing some Les Pauls that had them in them. That's been many moons ago aand my brain is a little foggy. I think I probably liked them back then. I was all about high gain and all that stuff then......not saying I'm not now, but you know man. Anyways, we'll see what happens.

Anyways, I know for the most part I can make it play and sound like I want to. I can make Gibsons work for me. There's a billion guys out there that can bout take any Fender out there and make them work for them and play the way they want. I don't know how to do that. However, for some strange reason, I can make a Gibson do what I want/need it to do. And at the end of the day, that's really all that matters to me.

Oh well, I'm ramblin...

Bro the body, neck and fingerboard were maple and the body had a HUGE control cavity for the MOG active electronics and it STILL was a back breaker! It weighed more than my Yamaha SG2000 (by a good margin!) which is a pretty heavy axe on it;s own!

Nice catch, ya got there!! Definitely funkier than most of Gibbo's other stuff.

Kool weirdness man. It looks like an Explorer, Firebird and SG in one. It does have a look that works with the silverburst. Great price....your LPs will think you've gone nuts! Have fun.
