Head-topper shelf?

So here’s the deal: My main amp is a Marshall JVM410H, paired with a JCM900 1960A. Sometimes I like to grab a pedal or two and set them up on top of the head. Because of the topography — a big handle right in the middle, and a giant ventilation slot trimmed with a grille and a slippery plastic grommet that runs most of the width. So nothing wants to stay on top of this dammed thing.

Is there something that’s meant to sit atop an amp head and give you a bit of usable shelf space?

It's not exactly what you're looking for but I got tired of not being able to see/tweak my v-amp3 So I made a shelf/stand for it myself. It sits nicely on my valve jr.

I built a wooden bracket to hold my Vox ToneLab at an angle so I could put it on top of an amp and fiddle with knobs.

This won't work with all setups due to the sizing of your equipment, but I like to put all my 2×12 cabinets on top of the amp head so I have a nice flat surface. Most of the time the feet of the cab prevent it from wobbling on the amps handle, but worst case scenario I just have to install taller legs that I can easily make myself.

How do you get a 2x12 cab to balance on a head? It just seems like the weight distribution would be a no-go.

The small and mid sized 'Pedaltrains' do that just fien, with plenty of ventalztio...plenty of vetiniliasio...plenty of air space.

EDIT- axctually, looking at it closely, with a crowded pedalbaord, I wouldnt trust the airflow on a pedaltrain on top of the amp,. so I think the 'Holeyboard' board is an excellent idea. What i do not like is they are angled..being flat like the Pedaltrain is a lot more convienient to put things on top aside from pedals.

That's funny. My amps are so tall that I've never thought of this. I usually go down to the pedals.

There's something really calming about sitting on the floor with a cool guitar and a ton of pedals with two full stacks and slowly dialing everything in.

If I'm going to be adjusting knobs a lot, like when I first get a pedal, I prefer them on top of a horizontal 212. (or really anything around 1.5-2.5 feet tall).
That height-range is the best IMO for adjusting knobs while playing.

With limited space I'd just flip the 212 vertical, which still leaves enough room for a few pedals on top.

I do throw a folded towel on top so the pedals won't slide around, and so I don't scuff the leather lol,,,,,you know the fonz really hates it when you scuff the leather!

OP, I have an unused Holeyboard Amptop (with carrying bag) sitting around that I'd let go for a good price. Let me know if you're interested :D
