Headless for Christmas

ehdwuld

A Ficus
Got one of the Headless offerings for Christmas

Mine was red . My buddy got the green one

They had some qc issues on arrival
As cheap guitars do

Pickups wired to only one coil
missing knobs on the grren on
Etc

Fretwork is good
Swamp ash and maple neck

Changed pickups in mine
Buddy just rewired the OEMs

Addied some knobs

Chose the Censtar , it came with a bag
Under $300 each
Looks like the same company Latitude and EART
very similar
Advertising roasted maple neck, but it ain't

I am happy that cheaper headless guitars are available. Can you use double ball strings? If double ball strings took off (if more headless used them), they'd be more popular.

Does amyone still make double ball strings?
and what is so special

Are they easier to change?

Yes, D'Addario does. And they are supremely special, but you need a guitar set up to use them (with the appropriate 40:1 tuners). Then it takes less than 3 minutes to change all 6 strings.

Double ball strings are a cool idea . . . but I don't see them ever becoming popular. String changes are a breeze, as long as you only want to use the one brand and type of double ball strings available. Assuming you can find them in your local store. And assuming that you have a guitar specially designed to only use them. Assuming you get a good batch of strings that don't stretch slightly more than spec and thus throw your guitar out until the next string change. That's a lot of barrier to entry!

It is, but if you have the guitar that uses them, and an Amazon account, it isn't a big deal at all.

Well, I guess that's ok, but not as cool as double ball.

so the double ball strings

do those come in particular lengths for different scales

what scale guitars do you use yours on?

what length is the new string = Ball to Ball?

I was thinking about changing the bridge out to the independent barrel type

but that needs a ball at the bridge
the one mount at the nut uses a ball on that end as well

I really dont want to use the set screw or locking nut at the nut

kinda want a tool less string change

Hey Cool! -Where did you buy? How much?

Also, is this a Chinese company knocking off Steinburger IP directly? WELL THATS GIBSON IP BUDDY:omg::D

they are less than $300 on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Censtar-Headless-Stainless-beginners-Professional/dp/B0BMT81RKH

this is a Leo James at under $200
https://www.amazon.com/Leo-Jaymz-Strings-Headless-Electric/dp/B0BW8QQ9JK

I think the Leo James is almost a direct copy
I saw somewhere that the body shape was open source but the endura neck was patented

neither of these have that neck shape

the censtar is kinds chunky in my hand, not baseball bat but thick D shape

the reviews of the Leo James says it is much thinner more shreddy
I aint got one of those so I really dont know

I have been lusting over the Ibanez Quest series guitars
but that kinda defeats the cheap travel guitar thing I use mine for

I use mine on 25.5". I never measured the strings, but they are just slightly longer, maybe by 2" or so. They might make longer ones, but I never investigated. This is in a fixed bridge Steinberger Synapse.

That may work on these when i change the bridge

Do you need to specify scale when buying them?

Or are all of them for 25.5 inch
