Headphones for solid state amps

Can you use any headphones for solid state amps, or are there specific type of headphones that I need to use?

If it has a speaker sim, you can use any old pair of headphones. You could need a 1/8 to a 1/4 adaptor, but you can use any pair of headphones.

If it doesn't have a speaker sim, it will sound like ass. Most analog speaker sims also sound like ass, honestly.

I've used expensive studio headphones as well as cheap earbuds. Some will sound better than others, but they should all work.

Some amps have headphone out's (not just SS amp's). Those can be used w/ any headphone that has a suitable jack

Otherwise you can plug a multi-fx of some sort in the effects loop of the amp and use it's headphone output if it has one (they usually do) in the same way..

Yeah any headphone's will work if their jack's physically fit.

Do not plug head phones into the speaker out jack
it's not the same

Yeah, only plug headphones into a headphone out. If your amp doesn't have one, you'd have to go into a mixer that does, or use another amp. Most SS amps these days have a headphone out, though.
