Headphones from tube amp

Is there a cheap and dirty way, AND SAFE, to connect headphones to a tube amp, like some kind of resistor divider network to reduce/limit power? I DON'T want a seperate headphone/effects box. I want to hear my tube amp through headphones.

Tube amp -> Weber Mass -> DI out -> mixer -> headphones would work. I have no idea how good it would sound, though.

Doesn't the THD Hotplate also have a line out or headphone out?

I once connected headphones into an amp. Started playing and then something really hit the fan and my ear drums were raped. From then on my ear phones haven't even seen an amp, much less been plugged into one. Don't trust ear phones in amps (well, unless the earphones have a volume control built into them so that no matter how loud the signal from the amp is, the ear phones don't let it get through).
