Headphones got trashed...reccos?

A few weeks back. Got my chorus pedal purchase out of the way and next u p is new phones.so I can start listening /recording/practicing at night again.


Want neutral sounding, closed back headphones.Cant stand buds/in ear. 75 bucks maybe..under a hundred for sure. Anything I should be looking at ?

Yes. The Sure SRH240a. $60 NIB and they will serve you well.

No prob. I use the 240A's for my everday listening, as all of the Skullcandy haedphones I was using sound like butt and couldn't stand the abuse. I use a pair of 440's for recording and mixing duties, but I think the 240's will work fine in the same role. They are a bit light in the midbass region, and not as effecient as their bigger brother (you do need a healthy headphone level to feed them), but the balance is nice and non-fatiguing without venturing into veiled/euphonic sounding.

Once I get em I can get to work on making a clip of the maestro clone, belle epoch, and the new chorus.I couldnt tell whether the recording was decent or not without phones. I was struggling with the heptode to love it, but just need ed to move it in front of the belle epoch, and voila. MagicPhase.

AKG K240s can be had at $75 used... they take a licking and keep on ticking IMHO.

Sony MDR-7506s. Relatively cheap and neutral sounding.

Thats OK. 100 was kind of my max, but 75 is better. And 60 is even better I am getting a small practice amp for late night to use with them too, so If I can save a bit, that means more money in the 335 fund

Next week I should be getting them.

Ha; any good monitor will do that! The other day I was listening to a mix I did last year ... made me cringe!!
