Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

Looks pretty sweet but...
The faded burst isn't really my thing, even if it IS the real deal. Some of the colors on the newer stuff does it for me wayyy more. Silverburst, blue burst, honey burst, ebony, that robot guitar skyburst kinda thing.... yeah

If i had that thing I'd sell it and buy 15 $6000 guitars and 10 $6000 amps.

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

I've actually gotten a chance to play a '59 Burst that belonged to one of the luthiers for Tyler Guitars. Spent about 30 minutes with it... that guitar was really something special. The feel and the sound was so different from any other Les Paul I've played before or since. Full, bold, clear, expressive, deep, rich... amazing. It really did feel alive.

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

The most incredible thing to me is that there are 31 bids already in place!!!

Who in the hell as so big amount of money to expend in a single guitar?
That guitar, for her value, will be never played as it should, to avoid any scratch or ding...

That's totally insane and amoral.

Collectors, high-profile players, prominent session musicians, people like Seymour, etc. As far as I'm concerned these guitars are peices of history. Some will be sold and resold as investments, some will be played, either out live or confined to the studio, some will be subjected to research... etc. There's a market for these guitars, obviously.

As far as avoiding scratches and dings. Have you LOOKED at the thing? It's worn all over the place and cruddy as hell. Beautiful axe, needs a cleaning though. I doubt one more scratch or ding is gonna make a difference.

Oh... and one more thing...

Amoral? :laugh2: :lmao:

People on this board are hilarious sometimes.

As I scroll down the page, the only thing I'm thinking is...

"...Why did this ***hole take apart this Les Paul?"

:lmao:

Needs a Floyd.

Ah, another guitar destined for a bank vault somewhere.
It's already going for more than my house is worth, and not reached it's reserve.

Free shipping! I'm all over this thing! I mean it's FREE SHIPPING bros!

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

I don't know why relic finishes aren't more common on LP-style guitars --- a well worn LP like that is a THING OF BEAUTY!

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

Beautiful, but really needs a refret- which unfortunately may decrease its value.

If I had that type of money I'd rather hunt down a a MAX replica. A fraction of the cost and the frets would be in better shape.

she shure is beautiful though

I know, right?
That'll be the thing that puts this over the top.

Don't get too excited.
According to the seller, you have to go pick it up in person.
But hell, don't let that stop you!
BID NOW! BID OFTEN!
:D

And what position was it played in that it got the rear edge scrapped down so much like that?
Sitting?
Propped against his rhinestone studded, blue jean jacket?\

If you were looking for a player, absolutely.

That thing is an investment show piece or studio guitar, period.

It would be ridiculous to take a 150K+ guitar out on the road... unless it had it's own bodyguard.

But you're right... it's just an amazing example of a 'burst.

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

i'm kinda surprised the bids have gone that high. I guess even when the economy sucks as much as it does right now, some people still have that kinda dough to throw at an old instrument. I sure don't.

Re: Heads up!! A real '59 Burst Lester on eBay!

Well, I would bid on it but I just bought an open box washburn so I dont have the cash.
