Hear Me Roar!

Raging BB Gunologist
Someone on another forum wanted a Rectifier doing chord chugging metal sound clip, so I made one. I figured I'd toss it up here for entertainment value.

It's my first venture into recording, so go easy on me. :blackeye:

It's a tap strait off my preamp, into a Kork PXR4. So it lacks power tube thump and speaker crunch, which makes the mutes a little weak.

Re: Hear Me Roar!

Paranoid :headbang:

I see what you mean, it kinda lacks attack and crunch, but the playing is good :)

Re: Hear Me Roar!

is something with my eyes or is that really a mp2 extension? are you living in the stone age man!!!!

that aside, you made a type in your preamp info.. or is it really a kork? ok .. ok, enough of me being nitpicky

the sound is a little boomy and as nuni said it's not right in your face type. the playing is neato =)

i'll upload my take on this a bit later (or maybe tomorrow) havent played this song in ages!

more clips by you other folks!!!!!

Re: Hear Me Roar!

Thanks for the compliments guys.....I'm going red....

It's a Korg PXR4. I'll fix the typo too.

After this little experiment, I've decided to invest in an SM-57 and some sort of mic pre. (Any suggestions on a good but not to expensive pre?) As was mentioned, lack of attack and crunch takes away alot from the sound, so I've decided to forgo cabinet emulation and mic right off the cab.

Why MP2? - It's a limitation in the firmware on the PXR4. :blackeye:

oh, it's just that the compression and the file type is about 10 years old ;)

well, after a new mic, it should sound a lot better.

and now i'm FINALY done with the bloody painting and the computer is due for a move to the new room tomorrow, so i'll have a lot more time for clips, covers, songwriting and general **** around time, which i'd rather spend with my girlfriend :yell:

Would you believe that they guy I made the clip for complained that what he wanted was a METAL clip?

(he even capitalized the METAL part)

Since when was Black Sabbath not METAL?!?

What a tool. No more clips for him.....

Re: Hear Me Roar!

lol, no pleasing some people.

If you can't headbang to paranoid, chances are you can't count to four.

Re: Hear Me Roar!

Thanks.

Here's another of a self-jam I recorded a little over a month ago. I thought it turned out kinda cool, but I couldn't think of a direction to take it, so it kinda died. I'm tossing it into my collection of riffs to use at a later date.

The quality's a little shoddy (I recorded on ecconomy mode), but there's nothing I can do about that now.

Rhythm 1 & 2 (left and right) - Mesa Rectifier
Lead 1 - DOD Grunge (main upper mid guitar)
Lead 2 - JCM800 emulation (only used occasionally for accenting the Lead 1)

Thanks.

Honestly, I didn't think I was that good.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out if you guys are telling the truth, or just being nice.... :)

As for tone, I'm working on getting proper mics and a mic pre.

Re: Hear Me Roar!

oh, i'm never nice ;) i'm just stating the obvious.
in my guitar port experience, i found that the 421 dynamic mic and the shure 67 condenser give really nice tones. but you can never go wrong with a 57beta imo
