Heard of Illusion P/U?

Hi y'all,

Check these out:

Have any of you seen these before, or more importantly, played a guitar with these installed?

I gotta admit, I'm intrigued. Y'all helped me when I was looking for a true '50s tone for my MIM '50s Strat, which I ended up getting 2 SSL-1s' for N, & M. I love 'em, don't get me wrong, but these "Illusions" really has a spell on me.

Their '54 Neck p/u is rated @ 5.29K Ohms, where the SD SSL-1 Neck (perhaps all) are rated @ 6K Ohms. (I could be wrong about that so please correct me if I am) Is the IP '54 really closer to the vintage tone than the SSL-1 simply because of the lower Ks? I do believe they share the same copper wire and magnets. Is it all about the Ks, or Henrie's, that makes the tone of the p/u? The less, the more closer to a modern day vintage p/u?

Very interesting....

To answer your questions in the order that they appear;
1) No, never seen 'em before.
2) No, never heard them on an instrument. (Try YouTube for customer demos.)
3) The DC resistance values of original Fender Stratocaster pickups vary quite wildly. The SSL-1 is, arguably, fractionally hotter than true original but in a usable way. Most of us will never get to own a genuine Fifties piece so the replica is close enough.

My personal mongrel MIM Standard/Classic Player Strat has Fender Custom '54 single coil pickups. They are staying put.

Hi "Funkfingers",

Thanks for the reply and answering questions in order. :^) I'll try to look up some demos on YouTube for those IPs'. Thanks. I bet your MIM sounds great.

Take care!!!
