Guys here's the lowdown on the wound G. If the outer diameter is equal (as in the D'Addario example) the wound string takes less tension to reach pitch. That should mean it's easier to fret as well. But when you go for bends, the plain string fluctuates far more in pitch vs. the same distance. So you don't have to bend the plain string as FAR to reach a whole step bend for example. Everyone's muscles are different, so some people gauge difficulty of bending on the amount of tension they need to apply, while others feel it's more difficult to travel a longer distance. So everyone here is half right so far, and each of you may be 100% right for your own hand.
BTW I like plain 19's for the G, and I can't stand the tone of a wound G. But I'm not biased
