Heavy metal setup??

Re: Heavy metal setup??

Throw out all your pedals and processors. Buy a Mesa Dual Recto and a 4x12 Rectifier cab. Get some EMG 81s or my favorite Duncan Distortions. Jam.

Re: Heavy metal setup??

A lot of people have already said this, you can get a pretty good rig even on a tight budget, you just have to keep your eye posted for a good deal on the bay or craigslist. You could find a used 5150 or ultra for around 400-700. Both of these will give you a pretty standard heavy amp overdrive, most metal dudes get tone from their amp not pedals

Re: Heavy metal setup??

For Killswitch Engage I love the Digitech Metal Master pedal. And I have played a friggin TON of pedals! I don't like amp distortions, they seem flat and sluggish to my ears.

Use either EMG's in your SG, or an SH-6 Duncan Distortion. That pup sounds positively wicked all over the place!

A good loud halfstack by a metal-ish brand will help . . . . IE: Marshall, Krank, Randall, Mesa Boogie.

Re: Heavy metal setup??

That MI Audio pedal that SlowGroove recommended is Tube Zone, not Metal Zone.
I think that you shoul test the new Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Mayhem tube distortion pedal made for metal.

Oh BUGGER . . . you are correct !

OOoppps !
