Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

Anyone else notice the lack of heavy clips on the forum?
I thought I'd record some heavy riffs for anyone who wants to know how these pickups sound under high-gain.

Heavy riff '59/JB

in this clip I start with the '59(with 2 ceramic magnets attached to the bottomplate) then I switch over to the '59 and JB in series (both full on) and finally I switch to the JB.

Gear used:

Amp

Pedal

Guess what kind of sound I'm trying to emulate, lol. :burnout:

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

sounds huge.

your using so much gain you can hardly tell the diffence between pups.

The JB does sound nice for that kinda tone though :)

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

downloading it.. btw i just posted a heavyish clip a couple of hours ago ;)

now i gotta go write some music so i'm prepared the next time the gods smile on me so i can record something >.<

nightburst, how did you record? does your amp have an output or just with the mic? if you miced the amp, how and what mic were you using, also what programs and that stuff

the JB sure does cut hehe

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

you know i think you just aided selling me a JB, that might cut it for my downtuned axe after all!

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

imo, there aint no better pup for downtuning than the JB... the lower it gets the more grind the JB delivers

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

nice one :D

i'm thinking of putting it in the guitar i used for the "brutal clip" i just posted.. from nightbursts clip i think it'll make it better :D

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

Hey thanks guys! Glad you liked it.
The JB is definately an awesome pup for downtuning. It won't get muddy ever unless you try real hard and it does cut in a band situation.

I used a €22 sony mic (designed to record meetings at work, it's mono, lol) into my minidisc recorder. After I'm done recording I connect the minidisc to my comp and record it into cooledit pro 2. I did no filtering or anything, the clip is completely raw. (you can hear my pick hitting the strings, lol)
My amp does have a line out so I'll try to record something that way some other time.

I'll go and check out you clip Davey, I must have missed it earlier?

C'mon people! Post your heavy ****!!! :D

nice "rich" sound
i like the JB the most
59n a bit "boomy" imo but i think that's about the neck slot
did u use the pedal for pushing the amp or what?

ok i gonna make a heavy clip too the next days/weeks...

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

I believe you have a Soldano Marcel? I'd love to hear how heavy that amp can get!
I just set my amp on the clean channel while using the pedal.

I also use the JB with a 250K volume pot.

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

Marcel has a Soldano?!?!?!?

dammit!

the only two "real amps" i want are a JCM 800 and soldano SLO - which model is it?

You got a pm Marcel.

Yeah just the MT-2.
Yup, that's a sticker :D

What colour is your HR 50+, red or purple? (check the Soldano site to see what I mean)

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

SD should do the same thing..... switching between PU's w/ a certain setup. It's a great idea! You can really hear the mids in that JB. Next time use a click track or metronome though.

Re: Heavy riff '59, '59/JB series & JB

thats a good idea but the amount of possibilities would be too great to warrant it.

marcel could you put those clips up on soundclick?
