Saw this on ebay a few days ago. John Jorgensen's Fender Japan Custom Shop strat. Had me wishing I hadn't made some purchases a few months earlier.

That thing is so much more badass than anything Fender USA does. :32:

damn its looks goood. i'd take that strat over any of my guitars anytime (except the KE and KV)

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

Considering how my taste in guitars runs I should like that on several levels, but I just can't get into it. I'm sure it's a sweet ax, but there's plenty more I'd rather have.

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

Those things were very cool looking, but also very heavy. 70s boat anchor heavy.

elec. XII pickups.

Seymour Duncan split hum-cancelling pickups, with a normal coil on the bass side and a reverse wound/reversed polarity coil on the treble side.

actually, the pickups were inspired by John's prototype G&L Commanche.

G&L managed to sour Jorgenson's sig ASAT deal so badly that he "defected" to Fender, and this was the eventual result.

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

sexy. Best I don't get hold of one at the same time as a cheap hotel room, a roll of gaffer tape and an industrial tub of tomato sauce....

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

Hard ash? for the elec. XII?

I always figured they'd only ever be alder...

But I've played a few. They were of normal weight, but they were early

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

That IS hot!!! I went with Fender Japan on my Tele because of the coolness and great quality.

If by "badass" you mean horribly tacky and overdone in a typical Japanese kaiju sort of way, then I agree.

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

I think it's kind of tacky. There is such a thing as too much sparkle, and that's a good example.

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

I find it somewhat funny that it's sparkly all over the body, even some on the fretboard, yet the headstock is totally plain.

Re: Hellecaster Strat - More Sparklyness from Fender Japan

I don't know wheather to love it or despise it...
