Hello people! Before I write down anything else I have to say that I’m reading threads for about a week now and I’m very exited with this forum! I really like the way that some off you explain your opinions. Ok let’s get down to business!
My guitars :
Ibanez Rg – 550 ltd 1995 – 1996 model I think. Sd distortion at the bridge & the 59er at the neck position. Basswood body bolt on with maple neck with the lo pro edge trem.
Esp Viper Set-thru Neck, Mahogany Body and Neck, Ebony fretboard emg 81&85 Pickups. Tailpiece bridge.
Ibanez Rg 3620z prestige with Dimarzio air norton neck and tone zone bridge pickups and the super wizard prestige neck. It has a mahogany body with flamed maple top and the Edge Zero tremolo.
Jackson DK-6-C Christian olde wolbers model. Archtop mahogany body, bolt-on mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, EMG 81 pickup, adjustable bridge, strings-thru-body.
Ibanez Rgt 6ex mahogany body, maple/walnut thru neck, rosewood fretboard, emg 85 + 81 and the Edge III tremolo
Esp m2 with adler bolt on body, maple neck with a rosewood fretboard with the Patb1 at the bridge and the 59er at the neck position. Also a Floyd Rose.
And this is my new guitar :
Esp M-2 Neck Thru alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, emg 81 humbucker pick-ups and a Floyd Rose trem.
I also have the Engl screamer 50 amp head through a Harley Benton cab. For home recording I use the Line 6 ux2. For rehearsal I use the line 6 floor pod through random heads and cabs.
The guitar that feels the best to me is my new Esp. Everything is great with her but I have the need to change the pickups. As you can see above i have some experience with emg’s with differend woods and constructions. And I can surely say that I’m not very pleased with them. Ok they are pretty loud as we all know, and they attack with a lot of hatred towards the amp but they make almost all of my guitars sound kind off the same. I was a fan but no more! I need something with more warmness and versatility. Something to really sound differend when I change the eq or effects/gain settings. More organic and less cold/sterile. I play 90% metal alone or with my band so you can all guess what I’m after in general. I need a bridge pickup to give me the eq and the right amount of distortion that I need to play solid palm muted chord changes or to have enough presence for the open one’s lets say Nevermore/Morbid Angel/Strapping young lad. But also a lot of clarity for technical speed riff’s like Lamb of god/At the gates/Grip inc.
I have also 2 guitars with SD pickups as you can see above. But the Esp m2 sounds very 80's Hard n Heavy and the Ibanez with the Dd sound a lot more tremble and bright than what i actualy need.
What's your opinion?
Remember i want to change from active to passive.
Thanx for your time allready for reading but i thought that it was needed to explain all that!
PS Sorry for any mistakes!
