So, a while ago I posted videos of me trying to play blues... I'm really more of a metal player. Since then, I got myself a home recording kit and here's what I consider to be a pretty nice result. I'm using Amplitube with guitarhack IR impulse and Drum kit from hell. Let me know what you think!

Also, I'm looking for a singer for this. Something melodic and agressive. If you have a great voice, good recording equipment, or know somebody who does, let me know! Thanks!

Do you have lyrics? I'm not a metal singer per say but the music I do sing to is somewhat aggressive.

That was pretty ****ing sweet, man! I use EZD DFH too, but my brootz aren't that caliber yet. I'm always either too thrashy or glamy.

Hope you find a singer, though. If you do and mix it in; post it here!

cool tune! you're the second person I've heard get really great thrashy tones out of amplitube (I can't get anything for the life of me that's usable out of it).

that riff at 2:05 is really sick.

not sure how a vocalist would even sing over this, but then again, I'm not a vocalist :laugh2:

what's weird is you're from canada, and it sort of reminds me of early Obliveon (also from there) - super tight, melodic, interesting.

That stuff is really tight, man. It's not my thing but it sounds great!

Thanks for the reply guys! I don't have any lyrics for this song. If you have a recording of your voice, I would like to hear it, even if it's not metal. Thanks for the comment about Obliveon. I know Pierre Remillard from that band. He recorded a previous album of mine and he's a really great guy and musician. Cheers!

holy crap, that guy is an audio genius. from their demo to carnivore mothermouth, I think he produced/engineered it all. stuff just got tighter and tighter sounding over time (I like cybervoid the best myself).

Yes, Cybervoid is also my favourite. It's a shame they never made it bigger. A lot of bands in Montreal have made it international since then. Maybe it what just bad timing, doing what they did in the 90's...

What kind of recording gear did you get?

& do you mind discussing the process you used to put this together.

Did you just sit down one day & bang it out? Did you have these ideas for a while, then decide to put it all together? Did you record a bunch of rhythm tracks & comp them together or is that one take? Was that the first drum track you've done or did you have to work on it/edit it, or is it a midi groove included with DFh?

Re: Hello again! Listen to my song (not a blues-metal-shred video).

Thanks for the good words! Well, I used a PC with a Presonus Firepod, cubase 5, Amplitube 5150 model and guitarhack impulse response instead of the cab in Amplitube. The guitar was a cheap but great sounding Schecter PT Custom with a Duncan JB in the bridge.

For the writing process, it took about 3 weeks to compose and record everything. I came up with the first riff you hear in the song, recorded it with the click, built the drum track with Ezdrummer, then came up with the second riff, recorded it with the click, built the drums, etc...

After all the basic guitar track was composed with the drums, I started "colouring" the drums by adding cymbals, snares, etc... Then, I re-recorded the guitar with lots of punches, not in one shot, mind you! Then came the second track with the harmonies and last, the solo. I also used copy-paste on a lot of riffs that I recorded to my taste, then simply copied in the next section of the song it was repeating. I think a lot of people do that for that style of music. I find it pretty hard to sound "modern" these days without working like that. Anyway, it saves time, that's for sure.

Thanks for reading :)

Re: Hello again! Listen to my song (not a blues-metal-shred video).

Also, yes, I used already made grooves in DFH, but added lots of cymbals and stuff. Then, there are also some weird sections in the song where I could not use already made drums and really had to work on. That's about it.

Re: Hello again! Listen to my song (not a blues-metal-shred video).

I'll record some vox samples and send them to you if you'd still like some for the song!
