Hello to all from a new poster

Hey guys. This is my first time posting. Really glad I stumbled onto this forum. Lots of good info on here, and I could spend hours and hours reading it all...and I probably will. :smokin:

I have a question for the pickup gurus. I'm considering ordering a custom Charvel and am mulling over the pickup options. I have an '85 Charvel Strat that's 2 piece maple w/ rosewood and H/S/S. It sounds amazing, but I want to change it up a bit.

I tend to go with a hard rock sound (Lynch, Gibbons, DeMartini, ect.), but I like a guitar that goes clean, as well.

I'd like to stay with maple and rosewood, because I like the bright warmth, if that makes sense. It's fat, but it really rings. The default bridge p/u that Charvel uses is a SD TB14, which I don't know a lot about but I'm guessing it's similar to the SH14 Custom 5. I'm doing string-thru with a tune-o-matic because I'm not a big whammy player.

My question is, if I went with 2 hums, what would compliment the TB14 the best...a '59, Pearly Gates, Jazz, Seth Lover...what do you guys think, or should I go in a totally different direction?

I've thought about changing to alder, but I really like the tone and weight of the maple. All suggestions are welcome.

welcome

i think a pearly gates neck would be cool in an HH setup with those specs

yeah, the tb14 is just a trem spaced version of the custom 5 ... i'd actually recommend a custom custom instead ...

good luck

Welcome to a great forum.

Sorry, can't offer you any suggestions....but others will certainly give you enough choices to confuse ...er...convince you.

good luck
