Hey everyone!
It's been about a year and a half since I posted here but I'm back with a question!
So, I've decided to resurrect my first guitar ever, an old Fender Strat. I want this guitar to be able to get trebly, but hold it's own on heavier rhythm stuff. By trebly I'm thinking poppy stuff like Weezer's Island in the Sun and for heavy I was thinking along the lines of Mars Volta stuff, specifically sounds like in their song Ilyena.
I know this combination of styles is a bit ridiculous, especially for a strat, but the main point is I need something fairly trebly, with good mids, but with the ability to get heavy to do rhythm stuff.
My initial idea was an SSS configuration totally filled with Quarter Pounders, however, I realized it might be useful to do a HSS configuration and use something like a JB in the bridge and 2 traditional-type single coils for the middle and neck. Either way, help me out here! Any input it totally helpful. Thanks!
