Help - Blackouts

Hello all. I've become frustrated enough over this project to finally register here after lurking for years now off and on.

Long story short, I have a PRS SE Cu24 that I'm trying to wire the Blackout set into out of an old Epi Explorer they had been sitting in. I moved over pots (only 1 tone/1 vol for the PRS) and jack with them.

I cannot get any sound out of the setup other than static. I'm barely a novice when it comes to this stuff, though I have successfully done a few passive pickup swaps before. Can anyone provide a diagram of how this should go? The setup is 2 humbucker (Blackout actives), 1 volume, 1 tone pot, 3-way blade switch.

The 3-way switch is an 8-lug blade style like this (behold my Paint skills):

so I have this 2 BO/1vol/1ton/3-way selector diagram:

but I can't seem to translate that successfully into the setup I've got. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try this. This might have your neck and bridge pickups backwards, depending on the perspective of the wiring and which 3 way import switch you have, but simply reversing the neck/bridge pickup wires on the switch will remedy that.

Also, make sure you have your jack wired right, as that could be part of your static issue.

+1 to all of the above.

I cannot get any sound out of the setup other than static.

Check that the Quik Connect blocks are on the correct way around on the underside of the pickups.

The colours should appear, left to right, red, black, white. Three shiny metal contacts should be showing through holes in the block. There should also be an arrowhead moulded into the plastic.

Thanks a ton for the replies - I'll be sure to give this a shot when I get a chance next and report back. If I can manage to get it working, I owe y'all some virtual beers.

Re: Help - Blackouts

Well I gave this another try today and just re-wired everything with the same result - no sound whatsoever except for an increase in static volume as the volume knob is turned, then it drops off near the top of the sweep. Same on the way back down.

I did have the neck pup's plug backwards, so those have been double-checked. Every connection appears secure, every ground is in place according to the diagram above.

Could the volume pot or switch or something be bad? I may just take this thing to a pro at this point. I'm sure they would love sorting through whatever I've messed up. :)

At the risk of asking a stupid (to the point of near-insulting) question......

and I apologize in advance for this....

...

Do you have a fresh 9-volt in there?

sorry

Certainly worth checking! (hey, I work in IT, I've seen enough "hit the power button" problems that it doesn't even phase me anymore)

I'm almost positive that the battery I'm using is good, but I'll pick up a new one today to be sure. I thought they would make some sort of noise even if the battery was dead, though, it just wouldn't be good noise.
