Help buying new Strat and Strap

Re: Help buying new Strat and Strap

What is the difference on the necks? I know the Fender has a Mondern C and the ESP has a thin U. The two guitars I have now, one has a Slim D Mustaine Profile and the other a Modern C. I like both necks.

Well they can call the profiles whatever they want. But really the only way you know what they feel like is to have experience with them.

The modern Fenders are very fast but fill the palm of your hand more. You feel like you have more grip on the neck.

I find Asian necks in general to be flatter. I tend to stick pressure on the back with thumb across the whole thing.

The Dean VMNT has easily the best profile I ever played. Medium width, semi-flat, with just enough meat. Goldilocks neck.

Yes, frets have huge impact on play. Jumbo give awesome single note shredding and vibrato. Horrible for open chords.

I love both alder and swamp ash...I would say if you can save money by switching to alder then go that route. I would argue tonewood does make a big difference to me...I think a JB sounds awesome in Alder and terrible in Basswood from my past experiences. My favorite wood for electric guitars is mahogany–richer darker tone with better sustain.

For straps, I use these–held up my Gibson Les Paul just fine and very comfortably. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Levys-2-Dis...301?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item461db5e7a5
