HELP....choosing hum set

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

Not to open a new thread, hope you don't mind if I ask an opinion here...

I got a Squier Hot Rails Deluxe, with the Duncan designed pups, and have an
option to buy bridge and neck SD JB humbuckers for a good price.

Read the JBs review thread, but nothing really applied directly to my guitar and
was wondering if anyone here would offer an opinion/advice here.

If it helps, the Squire HR is rose fretboard with bass body. The original pups are N 11.5k; M 11.5k and Bridge 22k or sth.
Has 500k pots (but that can be changed if necessary)

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

^ I like Duncans way more than Duncan Designed. Plus you can put almost anything in a Strat and it will sound good.

What you're after with the JB's? I have no personal experience, but I've heard nothing but good about those Squier Hot Rails.

There was thread here some time ago, that some of them had pickups in wrong positions. Assuming that's not the case here, you probably need to be more specific with what you want and how your guitar sounds as it is.

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

OK Well...Dimarzios it is..... AND "ButtHead" I don't appreciate u hijacking my thread

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

You really need to let us know what music you want to play and what is wrong with your current pickups.

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

classic rock..blues rock just bought guitar. have not received it yet, so going by year i think new pups would be in order ? mahogany body n neck. has stock dimarzios, year is 2000

You might want to wait and hear the pups on your Parker when you get it. They're Duncans.

Ah yes found it, Jazz and JB.

Yup you right and I apologize. I'll take it to a new thread.
You might want to refrain from the name calling. This would be easily resolved without it.

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

Parked....thanks for the input, but the stock pups on this parker nitefly m ARE DiMarzios.....the m stands for mahogany NOT mojo

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

The 59 in the neck and a PG bridge would be nice. Due to the mellowed mahogany you may want to try 500K pots to give it more presence.

Yeah that thread jack was super odd.

Whoops, I looked in the 2015 catalog so I went to look at the 2000 catalog on the Parker site. DiMarzios it is. :)

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

OK...been listening to sound clips (a lot) n i like alnico II pro set but, with aged mahogany body, could be to dark n muddy ? pearly gates set may be better choice ?? back to square one ! ..arrrrrh.. thanks to all who replied...even "BuletHead"

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

I had an SG with Pearly Gates in bridge and Alnico II Pro in neck. They were sweet sounding and I played rock.

Re: HELP....choosing hum set

thanks, i don't really know why ? but, i want a matching set of pups. i guess cause they are calibrated to each other ?

They're just names; a JB doesn't have a corresponding "neck" version (unless you count some of the JB floor customs made with a reversed label so you can flip them into the neck) and the Jazz neck "should" have a Jazz bridge pairing but few people do that and the JB/Jazz combo is the "legendary" one; some pickups have no neck (or bridge) equivalent, like the Custom(s.)
