Help for pickups

Hi everybody, I would like some help: I want to change pickups in my PRS SE Custom 24, and I was looking a bunch of pickups. I've got a Prog/Hard Rock band, but I love to play clean. I have a DiMarzio SD in the bridge (which I like a lot, but sounds too compressed when I play clean) and the PRS SE VB in the neck, which I find too muddy.
I look for a bright open sound, could you please give me some advices? Thanks, sorry for my English.

Re: Help for pickups

DiMarzio Titans!! I had them in my old PRS SE and they were AMAZING, great cleans, great gain tones and everything!

Re: Help for pickups

Custom/PG set. Own one on a PRS SE 30th Anniversary Flame Top CU 24. Kills the stock pickups by far, now it's party in the front, business in the back.

You mean the Custom Custom and the Pearly Gates, right? I thought the Pearly Gates was designed for the Texas Sound

I think PRS guitars tend to sound best with pickups designed and voiced by PRS.

You can find a set of used Made in the USA Dragon II pickups on Reverb or Ebay for well under $150.

Those are essentially what Carlos Santana uses.

8K alnico 5 neck and 12K alnico 5 bridge.

Great pickups in a PRS. They'll do it all.

Re: Help for pickups

Another vote for the Pegasus/Sentient. It does progressive medal really well, both chunky, tight lows and sparkling, open cleans. Really more versatile than the description might lead you to believe.

No, I actually mean the regular Custom (TB-5, the trembucker version, considering the string spacing). It responds very well to using the volume pot for different tone, it can scream, but also sing.

The Pearly Gates is an awesome neck pickup, very sensitive to picking, it can growl if you pick hard or moan if you pick softly. Sounds great both with gain and with clean settings.

I have both pickups wired so that they be used in series or in parallel mode. It's a very versatile setup, IMO matching the versatility PRS guitars were designed for.

I play with a a guy who used them two years ago, but I found them too..."closed"(?)
I don't know the word, but I don't like them so much, I prefer the McCarty PUPs, but I already have them

I heard some samples, and they sound interesting, especially the PG
Thanks for the advise [emoji5]

Re: Help for pickups

Excellent cleans, they're not hot pickups. The Pegasus is around 13k. They will do everything you want.
For now this set is the most interesting for me. Another friend of mine told me the Pegasus was good. I didn't know the Sentient, but I like it.. Thanks for the advise man [emoji5]

I heard a bit of Periphery songs, and the PUPs're really cool with High Gain
I don't know if they would sound good with just an overdrive or dry clean sounds
