Help! How do I solder the ground to the Bridge?

I am building a Parts-o-caster right now and I am trying to solder a ground wire to the bridge, bu it won't stick! What am I doing wrong? Help! :yell:

Rough up the area on the bridge with some sandpaper. Then put a bead of solder on that spot. Re-heat and insert your ground wire.

Are you using flux?

I have tried the sandpaper and it keeps popping off. Maybe I need to rought it up more?

I don't know what flux is. Sorry for the newbie-ness.

Can I screw it into a hole insteas of solder?

You may need to sand it quite a bit, but it will eventually stick. The coating that prevents oxidation also prevents solder from sticking. Pick one small area and sand it a lot, then try again.

Is it a trem guitar, then the ground is soldered to the trem claw
if not the ground is just layed underneath the bridge and the tension of the bridge on the body holds it in place

That's been my experience with Fender-style guitars, too. The LP-style guitars evidentally have a bare copper wire inserted in the hole where the threaded bushing is inserted for the bridge or the tailpiece.

Of course there is more than one way to skin a cat (or roast a dog- must offer equal opportunities to our pets! )

Like they said:if it's a hardtail, don't bother soldering. Just lay the bare wire under the bridge, and screw the bridge down.
