Help! I want to try Ernie Ball EVH Dimarzio's in another guitar...??

But they are made to screw right into the wood... (bigger holes -no threading).
Anyone ever done this? I have two Duncans (JB bridge and Seth neck) in the Ernie Ball presently and just thought I should try these two pickups in a couple Maple guitars I have, before I put 'em back in the EBMM EVH...
Thanx!

Hmm. curious how they'd sound in maple. It would warm it up some.

I've had pickups screwed to the wood and pickguard mounted on my frankenstrat. They're mounted in a pickguard now but before that, and until last year, I had a CC/Jazz combo screwed right to the wood. Just used small screws so the threads didn't get messed up. The tone was definitely a little bit fatter but not a huge amount.

IMO, those babies belong in the EBMM. ;)

Ya... I just want to see how they sound, but it's a bugger trying to figure out a way to get 'em in there.
I guess the only thing I can do is get the right size nut and solder it on the hole...

That's pretty much it. Good luck and post what you think of them in the maple body.

I might have a solution. I have done this to a wolfgang pup that I ordered from Peavey to put in another guitar that has a pickgaurd. Find some screws that will fit what your putting the pickups in and then get some small nuts that fit those threads from the hardware store. You can then epoxy or use supe glue to attach them to the bottom of the pickup. I personally used the superglue without any problems over three years ago. If you decide to put those pickups back in direct mount the screws will come off without any damage to the pickup if your carefull.

Problem solved!
Run a screw so that it fits vert tightly in the hole. iT threads the hole nicely so you can use the SAME sized brass screw into the hole.
It worked!!!
Nice smooth tight fit!!!

Now, I had to "slightly" drill out the hole just a tad in the pickup mounting ring, but no one will ever notice.
