Re: HELP ID older JB Pickups?

These are best guesses:

1. no backlogo, small tag without winder from late 70 up to ?
2. no backlogo, small tag with winder from ? to 1983
3. big backlogo without MiA, small tag with winder from at least 1983 to 1988
4. small backlogo with MiA, small tag with winder from 1988 to 2002
5. small backlogo with MiA, large tag with SN and Model from 2002 to ?
6. small backlogo with MiA, large tag with date from ? to now

The last letter usually indicates the first letter of the last name of the person who wound the pickup. Some of the initials also stand for the christian name, when the familiy name initial was already taken.

This is the list:

Code Final Assembler Model(s)
A Raul Araiza Single Coils
B Leticia Bautista Single Coils
C Catalina Padilla Rails
D Debbie Nyquist Humbuckers
E Edward Madrigal Humbuckers
G Gloria Ocompo Humbuckers
J Maricella Juarez-83' on HB-SC-STK-RAILS
J Janice Salazar-till 83' Stacks
L Lidia Daniel Humbuckers
L Leticia Quintero-87'-90' Stacks & Rails
M Martha Cameron HB-SC
O Oti Mora Stacks & Rails
P Lupe Perez-86' on Rails
P Patty Vasquez-till 86' Stacks & Rails
R Connie Rocha Single Coils
V Joe Velez Single Coils
X Mai Xiong Stacks

Yours are probably worth $65ish with the covers.

Re: HELP ID older JB Pickups?

That looks like a set from the '80's...

Both '59s?

You can get a little over $100 for the pair here, or a bit more on ebay (of course you pay fees there, so about the same net).

Re: HELP ID older JB Pickups?

The one on top is a '59B. I can't read the sticker in the bottom one.

Having the tape protruting out of the baseplate indicates those p'ups were originally sold without covers. The four soldering points in the '59b and the two out-of-axis on the other confirm that the covers were added later by someone that didn't want to molest the p'ups as they were made.

They could be made anywhere from mid '80s to late '90s.

No historic or vintage-added value. And considering the covers may not be Duncan or even good quality silver nickel, I wouldn't even consider buying them, period.

EDIT: I've just compared the Duncan covers I have here with those and they don't match. The value went down even lower than before.

HTH,
