Help identifying a bridge

This is a bridge from a Framus Strato de Luxe 5/167, 60's jaguar/mustang-type copy. It looks weird to me because there are bushing holes underneath, but no bushings or any traces they were once there. This bridge is very similar to archtop/jazz guitar bridges, what's unique about it is that the actual saddle is a type of a hollow grub screw. Never seen one of those in my life and I was curious if this wasn't replaced long ago and the original bridge was discarded.

This is probably the only picture you can find on the internet (framus-vintage.de)

As you can see it looks like it was somehow glued on. That residue is not from the finish because it's obviously thicker.

Here's a similar Framus with the same tremolo stuff, but the bridge looks completely different:

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

Re: Help identifying a bridge

Were there multiple models that used the same body style? The manufacturer might have used one body for a number of different style bridges but not always used the bridge holes.

I don't like that bridge because the strings are laying on a grooved surface that would make it nearly impossible for strings to return to proper pitch. I would also think it would be noisy as well? Grooved strings moving over a grooved surface.

The grub screw height adjustment idea is still used today by Warwick.

Re: Help identifying a bridge

Believe it or not this bridge actually 'works' and strings return to pitch normally, but then again you don't get much, just a slight vibrato. Inside of each grub screw/saddle is smooth and the string passes through at just a slight angle. With a bridge like that setting an intonation can be a pain because the string goes through the grub screw you are trying to adjust.

Yes the body shape was used on several Framus models, but looking closely at them they all came with the same bridge if they had that kind of tremolo.

ok, this thread is already more than 1 year old.... the bridge is not original, it´s from a jolana thinline of the 60´s - maybe a jolana tornado. the original bridge for that framus strato is a roller bridge.
