help identifying pickups

the other guitarist in my band has a chibson les paul and he is saying the pickups feedback a lot compared to his epi SG with emgs.
i am wondering if it is poor wiring??? or if they pickups need to be replaced. any other factors that could cause feedback other than the pickups being bad?

In this case, those p'ups are not bad, they're the worst. Plus, they've been tempered with.

Just get good p'ups and get it over with.

If you want to experiment you could try wax potting them. I agree with previous poster that turfing them is the best idea though.

Feedback is usually caused by pickups not being potted. I don't know if it is worth potting them, or replacing them one at a time so the $$ won't be an issue. They are not great pickups to start with, and research is free (if you want to replace them).

Personally, I agree with the others...those plain jane Epi pickups are some of the worst pickups you will find. Extremely low quality.

I'd replace them and probably upgrade the pots/wiring while I was at it, just to make sure things were done right and the parts were of good quality.
