Help Installing Split/Spin in PRS

This is my first self-install. I'm installing a SH-4 and an SH-2 in my PRS SE. I am working with 1 Vol, 1 tone and a 3way. Is it posibble to wire a single coil split using a push pull AND the Spin-a-Split mod using the tone control? The schematics on the site are a little confusing.

How does the series/split/parallel mod work? What pickup arrangements does it create?

Thanks,

Jon

Re: Help Installing Split/Spin in PRS

Yes, you can do that. You have several options. You only need one side of a push-pull to split a pup, so you have all these options with one push-pull (PP) and one spin-a-split (SAP):

1. Use the PP to split one, the pot to SAP the other.
2. Use the PP to split one and simultaneously engage the SAP. That is, you could preset a split position with the knob and then engage it with the PP.
3. Use the PP to split both - keep your tone control.
4. Use the PP to engage the SAP on one pup.

None of those are difficult to wire. Its just a matter of where you connect the wires.

If I just wanted to do a split...
Does the schematic for the Split allow me to split both pickups or just one? If so how does it split the neck pick-up when it's not connected to the push pull?

Re: Help Installing Split/Spin in PRS

Notice on that diagram that they only use one side of the switch. Simply bring the red/white from the other pup, and connect it right beside the first one. Then connect both bottom lugs to ground. As an alternative, on the side you "add", connect its bottom lug to the black hot of that pup. That will give you humbucking mode when both are selected/split.
