Help me choose a pickup

Ok i'll keep this simple.

I need a bridge humbucker pickup. I want cutting, toneful leads, chunky rhythm, clarity even with loads of distortion and shimmering cleans, and a tight but powerful low end .

Used mostly for metal but also bluesy type stuff too.

Also can you guys suggest a neck pickup to partner whatever bridge pickup you suggest? thanks

Feel free to suggest pickups that aren't seymour duncan aswell, like dimarzio, emg, Bill Lawrence or whatever

If your amp has the gain to pull it off, you can do what I do and get a Pearly Gates for the neck and a PG+ in the bridge. If you need a hot bridge pickup, get a Custom. It gets along really well with the PGn.

Re: Help me choose a pickup

Let us know what kind of guitar and amp you have...that's really important in making such a decision.

The Custom series are very good for your style of music. I like the C5 bridge and '59 neck very much. The C5 can be a little boomy and dark in some guitars though.

My gear is in my signature. But what isn't mentioned is that the les paul copy is solid mahogony with a set neck. Oh also i now own a Roland Cube 60 and not the peavey bandit 112. i will just update that.

Re: Help me choose a pickup

I don't recommend the C5 then. I think it might be too dark for an all mahogany guitar.

You might want to try the DiMarzio Virtual Hot PAF for the bridge. I've heard good things about that pickup although I've not tried it myself. The Duncan Custom would probably be good in the bridge for metal, but not sure how good those are for bluesy stuff.

Re: Help me choose a pickup

Stevo has made some killer blues clips with his LP. It has a Custom at the bridge, but I'm not sure.

Re: Help me choose a pickup

Dimebucker is very articulate for leads though cleans are not so great. It handles any amount of gain well.

I think that there's no pickup that would perfectly meet your requirements. However, if you hadn't mentioned blues...

A 59 would would too, cause large about of base and vintage tone for the bluesy tones you want.
