Help me choose one for my Bday....

Hi, I'm new here....
First off: I play Rhoads/Sabbath/Zeppelin/ALOT of Metallica/and Van Halen
1. Epiphone Les Paul Standard
2. A really nice Fender Stratocaster, a very good model
3. Jackson RR3
4. Epiphone Zakk Wylde LP
5. ESP KH602
6. Gibson SG Standard
7. Jackson DKMG/DXMG
8. Gibson Les Paul Standard

No Amps! Or Pedals! Just one of these guitars.
*Preferably under USD$1100
*Has a tremolo
*Has 22-24 frets
*Has locking (or double) tuners
*I want a good heavy metal/hard rock sound.
*Plus a nice finish.
*But most important: which of these guitars is the best for Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Metallica, OZZY/Sabbath?

And sorry if this is off-topic but how much do EMG81 and 85 cost?

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

Id personally go the les paul standard without question, but if you're after a tremelo then that wont do you any good now will it ;)

Get a good heavy mahogany twin humbucker jackson with a floyd, that will be ideal i think, and preferably one with a single coil in the middle too for some good cleans ;)

And welcome to the board :D

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

My recommendation is for building a Warmoth. Hollow strat body w/ a mahagony back, ash or alder top. Have it routed for 2 humbuckers & a floyd. Neck of u'r choice. I'd go with the 24 3/4 inch conversion strat neck. You can buy all other hardware through warmoth. This is what I'd do if I was you. good luck w/ what ever u choose!

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

I would get a Jackson Soloist SL2H. That one is pretty much the top of the line Soloist that comes with SD '59 neck and SD JB (tremspaced) bridge. These two humbuckers, super playability, and the best floating system will give you unlimited versatility. I will be getting the following guitars over the course of the next several years: Heritage Les Paul with Antiquities, Jackson Soloist SL2H, and a Warmoth SRV strat - slightly with my specs with ANT II surfers.

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

I would go for a used KH-2 on ebay. You can get one for around 800. and it is perfect for your type of music. :)

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

Have you looked at the Peavey Wolfgang? It fits all your requirements.

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

I'm leaning towards the KH602, its $900, and it leaves me enough money for a BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone(which i wanted to ask if it is good for Metallica) and some money for a hardshell case. So is the KH602 good for OZZY/Sabbath/Zeppelin/Maiden/Metallica? Its basically the same as a KH2 which is double the price. And also is the Boss MT2 Metal Zone good for the above bands (mainly Metallica)?

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

The Gibson Les Paul Standard is a phenomenal guitar, but you won't find it for under 1100, that's for sure ;)

As it is, I'm aiming at selling mine for $1250.

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

a lot of metallica? i played one of those epiphone zakk wylde les pauls a few days ago... they were really good quality. played better than a lot of les pauls.. sounded amazing too. emg-hz set on the epiphone one. but u can always upgrade those. i'm gassing for one...

Re: Help me choose one for my Bday....

I'd hate to recommend an Epi myself. It's just that you can think it feels and sounds and looks great but every time you glance at the headstock that "Epiphone" engraving just says to me, "NOT GIBSON".

That being said, I bet you'd dig the Jackson. A Gibson you might be more interested in than the Standard might actually be a Classic: hotter pups.
