Help me choose!

I am making a sweeet custom and I'm finally down to just choosing the pickups. What I have now is a Distortion and a hot rails (the guitar is routed for a humbucker in bridge and 2 singles.) I figured I'd put the Distortion in the bridge, the hot rails in the middle and something else in the neck. Would it be cool if I put the hot rails in the middle, even though it's a bridge pickup? Also, I need help choosing what to put in the neck. I'm looking for classic neck p'up shred tone in a single coil. What do you suggest?

Re: Help me choose!

I'd suggest trying the Hot Rails in the mid and neck position before you decide on the other pickup. The vast majority of folks don't care for the Hot Rial bridge model anywhere but in the neck slot as it is very hot and rather dark sounding.

A Hotrail neck and Cool Rail mid would be a nice combo as long as you get neck versions.

Re: Help me choose!

So you mean that I should take my bridge pickup and put it in the neck? That sounds a bit strange to me, but I'm open to ideas. What exactly is the difference between neck and bridge pickups anyway? Would this bridge being in the neck yield more output due to wider vibrations toward the center of the string? Thanks.
