Slinky for standard packs,,,,,,,, or if you were using self-customized gauges then I'd save $ and get juststrings, com bulk (same thing IMO).

Re: Help me decide on strings please

I've found the Curt Mangan strings to be an excellent product at a good price point. His Pure Nickel set is warm and vintage and the Nickel Wrapped has a brighter rock tone. There is also a SS set, which I assume is even brighter.

But of those in your poll, Slinky's.

Re: Help me decide on strings please

Used to be a big fan of DR Pure Blues (round core nickel wraps). Just seemed like there was more bloom to the notes. I had intonation issues with many of the last packs that I purchased ... despite "crimping" before cutting. Maybe I just got a bad couple of lots. Those coated strings are probably hex cores (unless they are coated Tite-Fits) so you probably wouldn't have to deal with intonation issues assuming DR didn't sort it out. But given that I don't really like coated strings plus the limited choices in your poll, I'd vote EB's.

So two colored, coated strings and plain jane Slinkys? You probably have a great feel for the Skinkys, so put the coated ones on there and see if you like them better or worse than the standard ones.

I have always used the EB 9s since I bought that guitar. I HATE re-stringing that guitar because of the edge tremolo being such a hassle. My bass player recommended the DR strings since he went with the black beauties for his six string bass and I was thinking of checking out the white since the binding and inlays on my guitar are white and just to change things up for a string change but I'm not sure. EBs have always sounded great to me and I have never used a coated string before.

Cobalts aren't coated as far as I know.

I play Slinky 10s and seriously love them, I do a lot of bends and they stay in tune, but I also rarely - if ever - use trem.
