I've been anxious to see the final product, hence the good memory! I absolutely adore the neck I got from USACG. From those specs it's going to a force to be reckoned with tonally as well.

I agree with these guys. A clear or single color translucent finish would be perfect for it. I don't know what to tell you about keeping it or selling it. I'm not much of a strat man myself (I know, I have a Predator, but I decided this afterwards), so personally I would get rid of it. But you obviously like them, so it's your call on that. If you decide to keep it, I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of the paint job. Go ahead and get a good one, just use the single color to save cost. But its a beautiful guitar, so I'm sure you wouldn't have trouble selling it either.

Like everyone else, I think the grain pattern is too nice to cover in sunburst. A simple transparent tint would be nicer (and cheaper)

If you decide that you still don't want to invest the time and money assembling your Strat, I sure you will get several offers based on your photos.

I say do it, but $600 for the finish is just too much. Go with someone else... (no offense to her, of course... she did a nice job with the tele, but it's still too much money)

This is a tough one... I am a strat guy and that probably colors my opinion but I'd finish the project and see what it does for you. Play it a while and let it loosen up. If it doesn't excite you, sell it either as parts or a whole.
and ditto on the clear finish rather than a sunburst. Personally I really like tung oil which is cheap and lets the guitar breathe.

Maybe I should consider a transparent color again. That is what I originally started off with. The trouble is, even a transparent nitro finish will cost about $325-$350 for the body, and then the neck runs around $200, so it's not that much of a savings. It's hard to find commercial finishers working with nitro....and I am adament about nitro if I'm spending the $$. I guess that's really my problem...I'm picky, and that's going to cost.

For the record, my wife thinks that I should just finish it slowly over time. Get the hardware, then a while later get the pups...then send the body to be done....ect. Perhaps not a bad idea.

Again, I guess my main struggle is the fact that since I've got my LP's, my taste has changed in the feel I like. Perhaps it's a temporary swing and I'll come back to center after the "Honeymoon Period" with the Lesters is over. If this is the biggest delima in my life...I guess I have nothing to complain about.
