I don't know...the 355 looks baller...but the Gretsch has that little something something.

My suggestion?

Epiphone + English Mount Rings + TV Jones

Baller with a little something something on top.

those pickups on a 335 do look good. and it is something I have thought about. maybe a bit more thinking is in order

Q: Where in the UK can those 'Tron surrounds be bought?

Re: help me decide which guitar to get next

I thought about getting the new epiphone ES 345, but the varitone and two outputs kinda put me off. i have no idea what i'd ever use seperate outputs for my neck pickup and bridge pickup for. plus the headstock isn't as nice, the binding isn't as nice and i prefer block inlays to split inlays. still a nice guitar though but i prefer the 335. oh it also comes in alpine white :D lol

I agree on the cosmetic appointments. I prefer the looks of the Epi 355.

But you don't have to use the 345 in stereo. I don't see how it could put anyone off just having the option to do so; again, you don't have to use it, and it doesn't get in the way. You just need a stereo to mono cable, or a two-into-one spliced cable.

An output for each pickup could be a great thing. You could put each pickup through different amps, and/or different channels, and//or different effects. Instead of stomping on effects or channel buttons, you could simply flick the pickup selector for a radically different tone.

The Vari-Tone can be just as easily ignored...but could also be put to great use if you bother to do so.

Actually, I am surprised that only the 345 has those features, and not the 355 as well. It's too bad. I'd like a guitar with the 345's features, but the 355's looks.

I had a 345 with stereo jacks and Vari-Tone on loan from my cousin in law for a few years. I grew to love it very much. It is great that Epi has introduced those features on a budget guitar.

Ugh...I just left the UK. If you would have asked 4 months ago my answer would have been "You can get them because I'll bring you a pair and post them via Royal Mail to you". It would have been way cheaper.

However, within the UK, these guys carry them. Quite a bit more expensive though.

thanks for that site. Tv Jones are bit cheaper there then the sites i've been looking at, nice one!

right folks, thanks for all your comments. here's what you have all been waiting for I'm sure... my decision...
I'm going to go for the...... 355 next week. my plan is to save up some more for some Tv jones pickups and maybe a roller bridge.

you'll probably see a similar thread with the other 2 guitars on here next year lol

on a side note, has anyone had expierence with the Tv Jones classic neck pickup? I've heard the classic plus countless times and I'm in love, but never the neck pickup other then on the site.

As soon as I saw Gretch on the list that was it. I'd love to get me some filtertrons for extra Zing. Plus I like The Living End.

Re: help me decide which guitar to get next

FYI, 2 output jacks are (obviously) for sending the neck pickup signal through one amp (or signal chain) and the bridge pickup through another amp (or signal chain).

I think it's a pretty *****in' idea.

Re: help me decide which guitar to get next

yea, the stereo deal seems really cool. If your amp has 2 inputs, you could run your bridge pup thru different effects than your neck pup.

I can see myself running delay on the bridge into one of my amp inputs, and the neck into TS9 just to have clean jangly echoes + sustaining lead, without dual amps this is possible!

Ideal situation- A low watt marshall or vox style amp for the bridge pup, and something like a deluxe reverb for the neck pup would also be really cool. Mic'ing the amps and running it into a DAW, and you end up with clean separate sounds that you could blend or discard at will. This seems like a really neat idea that is worth exploiting, I would see myself spending many nights playing around with this.
