OK I have pretty much decided to retire my CC/Jazz combo in my SZ for a custom and a 59 ,you cant tell much from the pic but the neck is bound in cream and the body has a natural maple binding, what do you think to a pair of reverse zebra or zebra(cream/black) pups instead of black? maybe cream pickup rings? I was thinking about doing away with the chrome knobs and switch too

What would you do to dress this axe up?(most my guitars are black this is the purtiest) opinions wanted!
Peace!

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

The only thing I would do is the zebra pickups, other than that, it looks mighty fine!

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

Not sure there is much you could really do, possibly speed knobs

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

I think the cream rings and black hardware would really suit that guitar. Hows the CC sound in there? All mahogany set neck guitar right?

Actually the CC sounds great in this guitar, it has a suprisingly thick maple cap 3/4" and the stock Ibanez SZ pup in this sounded way to brittle for me.This is a older model that didnt have duncan/ibanez pups. The back is mahogany /mahogany set neck
My CC seems to be too microphonic at high gain though, I really wish it wasnt. I dont know if its the nature of the beast or this perticular pup.
I just thought a Custom and a 59 would be more aggressive but not over the top. And was wondering if Zebras would look better in her than black

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

+2 to the Zebras, and I would swap the plastic pup rings for chromed metal ones.

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

Set it in front of a Twin Reverb.
ha ha ... I like digging my tone from deep out of the bowels of those^^^ two abominations of sonic distress ^^^ too much

I can make two crappy amps sound twice as good as one crappy one:fing2:

Re: Help me Facelift my SZ520

Seriously though, the guitar looks fine. I'd probably add nickle/silver covers to those pickups. I'd probably change those pickup rings too.
