Help me figure out this acoustic song!!!!

Here is J.R. from Dishwalla doing an acoustic randition of until I wake up. This would be a great song for me and my singer to learn to do out in bars for a more melow tune. I know it'sin Eb, but can't determine capo use or tuning, can you guys help with that piece?

This guy seems to have it figured out pretty well. Something about the notes picked doesn't sound exact to me, but you can work with it. I know it sounded like an open tuning to me and this person shows how he tunes the guitar in the notes. It's basically the famous DADGAG tuning but sharp.

In this video you can watch JR Richards himself play the song and look at his finger positioning. I don't see a capo. Hope this helps!

so if i tune my guitar to that and then throw a capo on the first fret, it'll get me there, right?

I didn't see any capos being used or any advice to use one so I'd say no. Just use the D#A#D#G#A#D# tuning they advised.

Well, I'm no expert, but I'd play it with a capo on the first fret in a G configuration and arpeggiate the picking, because the song sounds like it's in Ab. It's probably not what he's doing, but that's what I'd do. If you don't want to use a capo, play it in A, because a lot of the notes I'm hearing are open strings and you should be able to copy a lot of that with a modified A chord (play the B string open, I think it's also called an E sus A add 9), but for me, it's an A chord without the C#!
