Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

Go find a nice 2x12 or 4x12. Then buy a few small heads. A used Orange Tiny Terror and the Vox Night Train would be on the top of my list. The Vox can be found cheaper so that is where I would start. Marshall, Fender, Peavy and EVH all have great products in this range.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

H&K Grandmeister 40 Deluxe. 4 channels, 4 power levels (1,5,20,40W), reverb, delay and modulation effects. Light, powerful if you want it to be, and can be used either alone or for rehearsals/gigs. Apart from a wah and a tuner, I don't need anything else. Also has a really good emulated out for silent recording, if, you connect it to an interface and some headphones.
I actually see it has no reverb; being the tubemeister 36 the closest model which has got it. Am I right?

Yes, the GM40 has reverb, delay and modulation (chorus, tremolo, phaser and flanger, one at a time) all built in.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

That's right I got a mancave at home, so what, so what :headbang: as long as I dont turn it up too loud.

Anyway, in my search for a new home use amp I found the following options:

Fender blues Jr. III Tweed (amazing sound but no fx loop)
Fender blues jr III (still good but again no fx loop)
Fender HRD III (might be too loud?)
Bogner Alchemist (perfect on paper but I cannot find good sound clips of it, I can get a good deal on one but I can't play through it anywhere First)
Mesa F50 (sometimes one pops up but I'm not too familiar with it yet)

Listed those just because they are offered 2ND hand frequently at affordable prices. I was blown away by the blues jr Tweed when I played it but it doesn't have an fx loop so I'm keeping my eyes and ears open.
Basically I'm looking for an amp that is all tube, low wattage that has GOOD lush cleans. Budget is around 450/500 ish.
I really want something in the fender/mesa territory type of tone that (I suppose)has a more scooped eq.

The goal is to keep me inspired at home where I write music or play for fun to relax.

Help me out?

I've had the Blues Jr. Tweed myself (with the BillM mods). Also had other various tube amps from 15 to 50 watts.

I have set all of them aside in favor of a Quilter MicroPro Mach II 8" combo.

I haven't looked back.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

+1 on the Orange Rocker 15

So far, no one has suggested the Mesa Express 5:25. It has nice cleans and an effects loop. Also those 5 small watts still pack a solid punch.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

I am on the hunt for a Mesa Boogie currently, Caliber 50 plus or Studio 22 plus are the prime candidates at the moment but they might be too loud? I'm definitely set on an 'American' sounding amp.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

Love my AC15. Great sounds at low volume, awesome when you crank it up!

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

You know what would really set off the man cave? A Celtic!

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

I have a few amps that I use at home

Tech 21 Trademark 10
Bassbreaker 007
Mustang III
Micro Terror

If I had to pick just one it would be the Mustang. The Bassbreaker a close 2nd. I like them all quite a bit but the Mustang does just about everything and it does it really well.
If it is strictly man cave use and it's got to be tube I'd go with a lil night train, ridiculously good amp.

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

What do you people mean with "man cave use" btw?

Re: Help me find a new mancave tube amp.

A room in the home where it is acceptable to store and use guitar gear, usually because no one other than the guitarist ever goes in there.

Otherwise known as the music room.

Man cave = place where you have to put everything that your wife doesn't like.

Tubemeister would be my suggestion. The other guitar player in my band has one and it sounds pretty good. It also takes pedals very well. The only thing it doesn't do really well is a pushed Marshall tone, I'm thinking a tube screamer in front would work to thicken up the tone a bit.

I love boogie!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, really great input. I liked the Laney alot actually but it's not very common to find one in my area unfortunately.
I finally found a good deal on a mesa and pulled the trigger. Met all my expectations and then some.
