Help me find a price of a rare strat!!

k guys heres the deal.. i just found out my friend has a guitar he won in a radio contest in 1999 and he was trying to explain it but he pritty much knows nothing of guitars ... all i knew was it stays in the case and isnt played... i asked him to send me a picture so i could se what it was and this is what i got back.....

so i did some reserch and found out that it is a limited edition guitar mad btween fender and ford to comemerate the mustangs 35th aniversery.. i also learned that only 35 were made...( my friend has number 12 of 35 ) and other things like the horses on the neck are MOP brass copper and silver, and the knobs on it are acctual 1964 mustang radio control knobs. i've read that only 15 were released to the public one place and another i read that 10 were given to fender exec's and the rest were released in fender contests... i cant seem to find any type of price though.. the closest i found was one website had sold theirs already but i clicked on the order buton and it wanted me to pay $18,999.99 ... so thats my only ballpark to go from and i was hopping for more prices or a more definate idea of what this suckers worth.. thanks alot and good luck!

Well.... it's not worth 20.000 dollars though... depending of i you could sell it for much more later.

Actually, i got no idea. When i first saw the pic, i thought it was a plastic guitar gotten as a price at a horse track bet? Sorry

Something like that is only good for looking at. I wouldn't take it out of the case or anything. There is a local guitar store around here that has a harley version of that, which has one tiny scratch. The owner said that the scratch knocks off a couple of grand from the value.

That is not a player's guitar, I wouldn't even show it to many people, much less play it, because that thing is going to be worth some big bucks. (already is)

Around the time those Harley Strats came out, a store around here ended up with a bunch of aluminum bodies, supposedly made for those... I wouldn't want one, even if I liked Strats...

I saw one like it on Ebay recently, and linked it to my Extreme Gear Makeover thread. Go on Ebay and search for it by selecting 'completed items' and see if they got money for it or if it ended without a buyer.

Most of all, you might want to Email Fender and ask them what the retail price would have been, if it weren't a promotional item.

it was in a recent fender custom shop calender! year before last i think?

but yeah.. i seem to remember one of the 'jaguar' strats went for £9000 in the UK.. it was second hand but untouched!

I have a Fender Custom Shop Calander from a few years back that i think has a photo of one of those strats.... neat strat.... I would bet the lowest price on that guitar would be $3000, and then the highest would be "whatever someone would be willing to pay for it" It could be worth a fair bit to a Fender Collector with money
