Crate V1512 is awesome, the V8 is nice but without true "power tube" output its lacking in the rich sound a little. Fender Blues Junior is pretty clean, The pro junior can be clean with the right tubes, mine sure isn't
The Crate V1512 with the tonetubby speaker is pretty awesome, it might be a bit more that 50 pounds but I doubt it. Schecterplayer got his biased a little cold and runs power tubes rated at 8, i think he uses a chineese tube in the first Preamp and a 12AU7 in the second for cleaner sound, The last tube is just the stock sovtec. It has no hum at all at low volumes. Its also pretty loud. Not sure bout an effects loop.

I've been using a used beat up Classic 30 combo for a clean, loud, combo with an FX Loop..... I use it mostly for cleans and use pedals for dirt... but my Tele sounds great thru the amps drive channel!.....
anyways that little amp only set me back $350 in a store used about 4 years ago and i've used it a lot for jamming... it's the first amp i grab in my collection... The speaker extention jack helps in a lot of cases as well!

I plugged into a Crate Palomino V8, at the local guitar shop and I don't know if it has some bad tubes but it sucked goat nads.
Very brittle sounding, the loauder I turned it up the more and more it sounded harsh, it didn't overdrive smoothly it was almost like a extreme fuzz, make the speaker was blow.
Blues JR with good tubes.
Try to find on the the tube champ 12's Fender put out in the early nintey's / late eighty's the drive channel sucks but the clean is great real "fender" clean. Great twang to it.

Dont rule out the Classic 20, thing sounds freakin great at any volume.

Try a Hughes and Kettner Edition Tube, 2 channels, great cleans, usefull overdrive channel.

I am interested in getting one ... were can I find a Blue Angel for this price range? Never mind, I thought there was a price cap. I mis-read.
