Help Me Fix Up My Amps

Hello all! Okay, first of all, my Tweed amp is fairly new and I want to swap the groove tubes for some better glass. As for power amp tubes, I'm going to buy a matched pair of Tung Sol 5881 Reissues after hearing tons of raves about them (and being thats what they would have put in a Tweed back in the 50s). Im goin to get a JJ 12AX7 just because I loved how they sounded in my Gibson GA5. Ill keep the electroharmonix 5U4 rectifiers in there. But for the first three pre-amp tubes, which are supposed to be 12AY7s, what do you guys suggest? I was thinking electro harmonix, (I dont want to go with NOS because theyre too expensive and I had better experience with current production - more headroom thicker distortion), but I would like your expert opinions.... And are there any other little fixes/tweaks I can (or my guitar and amp tech friend) do to my Tweed Twin that anybody knows of that are worth doing?

Now for my little guy. My Gibson GA5 has blackplate RCAs in it (EL84 and 12AX7) and it sounds very good. I still prefer it with the JJs because of the extra headroom and richer distortion tones, especially when the amp is very low wattage. But now I am used to the ultra thick "wall of clean" I get with my 2X12 Tweed Twin. When I go back to the little 1X8 Gibson, even when it is maxed, it sounds all thin and weak. So now I was thinking of getting an extension speaker cab, preferably a 1x12 or even 1x15. I know the speaker is going to be a Weber, probably a ceramic Jensen clone. Any suggestions as to what actual cab and speaker I should buy? Thank you for your time.

Re: Help Me Fix Up My Amps

Okay, I put in a new JJ EL84 in the Gibson amp I had lying around and that seemed to get rid of a harsh high end that I got with the NOS RCA. Seemed to make the amp louder, more headroom. Im going to keep it in there for a while. The RCA power amp tube sounds very good though. I also tinkered around with the NOS RCA 12AX7. I had a Chinese Groove Tubes 12AX7, a USA Groove 12AX7 and a Sovtek 12AX7 and the RCA sounded way better than those. So I kept that in. I guess it was the power amp spot that needed some tweaking.

I still would like suggestions on the above, please. Thanks dudes.
