Help me ID Kramer body.. Also, refinish or not?

Got an old Kramer body many years ago and Im going to start building it up.. Any idea what model its from? the neck joint has me miffed. Pretty sure it was a Japanese only release. I got it from Japan. Also, where can I find a control cover. And, should I refinish or not. Im picky about my gear, but I dont think I can do it justice with a rattlecan, I dont want to strip and stain, and, looking at it today, its scarred but may polish up a good bit. Thanks!

You will probably have to make a control cavity from blank plastic sheet. (I need to do this for a 1997 Patrick Eggle Berlin.)

IMO, refinishing would be a waste of time and effort.

Might be cool to do a relic thing. I saw a cool bass recently with a neat relic effect - where the arm rubs on the body, instead of it being a section of bare wood, it was painted/stained red.

Before you do anything give it a cut and polish and see how it comes up.

I'm thinking that is an Ibanez. The neck pocket looks like an AANJ.

I was thinking MIJ Charvel/Jackson by the shape lol But the neck bolts layoutlooks like Ibanez–haven't seen that on a Charvel Jackson that I can think of.

I'm not too familiar with Kramers so I apologize but I can't help on the ID part.

If you go with a Maple neck then I would leave it black–black body with a Maple neck+black dot inlays looks sharp ;)

Looks cool. I'd leave it as is. Do what kramersteen said.

I'd go

maple neck/board /no inlays / reverse explorer headstock / black hardware / white pickups.

Or

maple neck/ebony board / no inlays / CBS Fender headstock / chrome hardware / black pickups.

Yeah,dig those!

I remember Fender had CS Relics w/teh 2-tone paint scheme(finish over finish) thought they were "kinda neat" as a lot of the old ones prolly got finished over at the plant...

Dunno about doing it on that.tho.

Not a Kramer. Shape isn't quite right to be a Baretta or a Pacer.

I'd say Charvel or Jackson. The neck heel appears to be similar to the ones offer on the Fender Jim Root Signature Models.

Also, maple neck, maple board, black dots, pointy headstock to take someones eye out.

The rear cavity cover and neck joint isn't like any charvel i have seen.

Yeah, the neck joint deal really has me miffed. It was sold to me as being a kramer buy a dealer that usually deals in Kramers, but Ive never seen a neck joint set up like that on one. Yeah, first will get a good clean up and a hard hand wax and see how it buffs up. It didnt seem as beat up to me this time. (Im not quite as A Retentive as I was years ago when I got the body) So it may buff up nice. Then will start building. I used to be a non maple board guy too, but Im thinking maple, black dots, upside down hockey stick..

Maybe instead of a refinish you could inlay something cool into the body? Just an idea.

Not an Ibanez AANJ - That would have a squared off heel. This body has a curved one.

Not a Kramer Glide, that one looks like it had a square neckplate, this one has offset screws.

The *closest* guess I can make is an HM Strat of some sort. I haven't found one that matches the cavity cover exactly, but plenty of the Japanese Fender (and Korean Squier models) have the offset neck screws, HSS and Floyd.
