So I scooped this off fleaBay last night. I'd actually put in a lowball bid on it like a week and a half ago & then kinda forgot about it, LOL? I did end up winning it & for a darned good price too but like my typical "buy now worry later" self I didn't look at the backplate & check it out very well before bidding so I didn't realize any of these issues until I got a notification that I'd won the auction.
The seller claims that it's a Duncan Antiquity, perhaps its an older one & the signed by Seymour sticker fell off or was never put on but the winder's tag is still there & there's a few other things that seem a bit off about it as well? Now I'm kinda thinking that it's just an older Seymour Duncan Tele bridge pup of some flavor & considering it only ran me $30 I shouldn't complain too much but I bid on an Antiquity for a reason. I'm doing a complete renovation of a import Tele for a client whom specifically asked for Antiquity's along with all new electronics, a fret dressing, and setup. Anyway, I can't just say "close enough" & call it a day?
He said he didn't care where & how I get the pickups (used was fine) but they had to be Duncan Antiquity's for Tele and the bridge puppy had to be flat, not staggered & he wanted a Antiquity humbucker in the neck. Those were my only directions and since this guy could potentially be a great client for years to come I don't want to mess this up! He's got a huge collection of guitars and he's constantly in need of maintenance so it could be a good way to make some extra cash while doing something I love to do anyhow...
If this is not what I want I may still keep it because it is a cool old Tele pickup but I'd still like to know for sure exactly what it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
