SO, you want to own the holy grail of Charvels for cheap, eh? :laugh2:

You need a good Maple neck with a Strathead, an IIRC ash body with a singlehum and V-trem route. You´ll also need black and yellow automotive paint and masking tape.

Can´t help much on the pickup ´cause I don´t know....

I´m pretty sure that isn´t the original Charvel neck, though, CHarvels have much more closely spaced 12th fret dots ;)

How much would you pay for a rare shot of the back? :deal:

Remember Ed flat mounted his Floyds, no big floating route.
Full contact with the top unless the action is raised.

The neck looks a lot newer than the body.. Defintely can't be the orig. neck for sure!
I don't know if it was truely THE original, but the one on the album had a black headstock.

Ed took the original neck off the B&Y Charvel sometime into the 79 tour or early 1980 i believe.... It was on his Red, Black and White guitar for about 1 year or so and had the charvel logo covered with electrical tape... That original neck is now believed to be on Ed's Dragon craved guitar at 5150 studios.... The B&Y Charvel at first had a 6 screw Charvel bridge, then a Floyd Prototype, and then later it had a Floyd Rose Original added.... In the photos above you can see one of the reasons Ed didn't like this guitars sound too much... The humbucker was routed out too close to the bridge for Ed's liking.... The FRO is almost sitting on it....

In that one photo above you can see a second pot in the Electronic's rout..... wonder what that is about..?/?...

This Charvel is one of the more cool guitars Ed had..... I've always liked it.... I've seen the other protuction models of this model that were made. But the stripes on Ed;s look the best....

hey..not to divert attention away from this forum but this site has a lot of info on the topic of building evh guitars..its pretty extensive...and quite interesting

Re: Help me I'm building an EVH guitar!

closest pickup to Ed's preferred setup would either be a Seth or Antiquity with the cover taken off, i would think.....opinions?

Isn't this the guitar that got buried w/ Dime?
I haven't heard that before, but that would be a pretty cool tribute. That says a lot about Dime, and what Eddie thought of him, for him to do something like that.
