I need 8 new tubes for my Peavey Triumph 120.
(the first link on this page) http://peavey.com/search.cfm?c=3&lang=&term=triumph

I dont know anything about Tubes and would appreciate your guys' help.

I need-

Power Tubes
4- 6L6GC and 1- 12AX7 driver

Preamp
3- 12AX7 and 1- 12AT7

I dont know anything about this stuff. All I know is that my tubes are about dead and my amp sounds bad.

I want to order some tubes from here http://www.tubedepot.com/sovtek.html
But I do not know what to order.

My amp Has 3 channels- clean, Crunch and ultra.

If it helps I play metal (think 80's metal) Stuff like Dio and Maiden and Megadeth.

Re: Help me order the Right Tubes

Call or email Bob at www.eurotubes.com, talk to him about what kind of tones you want and he'll point you in the right direction. He's a JJ tube dealer, but he'll recommend other brands if he honestly thinks it will deliver your tone better.

Re: Help me order the Right Tubes

On the 12AX7's, I'd recommend the Chinese ones. Groove Tube 12AX7C's are the choice. The JJ 12AT7 is a good choice.

The JJ 12AX7's are good and the 6L6's are really good.

Thanks for the info. I think I am gonna go with the JJ's

but I have a new question- what is the 12AT7 tube for? I saw something about that being a reverb tube or something but I have no idea.

Re: Help me order the Right Tubes

A lot of times as 12AT7 will make the reverb sound more lush and thick...since the gain factor is lower.

I don't know much about 6L6 power tubes, but I trust Scott's opinion. Bob at eurotubes will guide you to the right matched pair if you talk to him about what you want.

As for pre-amp tubes, I'm not as sold on the JJ's. The new higher gain 803's are better than the others, but I'm really sold on the GT series. The C's are fantastic for tight, crunchy gain....just like the music styles you listed. The M's are a little smoother, and have less gain...but not a ton less.

The best thing is to buy several of each of the C's and the M's, and try them in each position. Find what works best in your amp...because it's different in every one.

Good luck.
