I wood like to try some Joe Barden pups but they are way over priced, Please give me some ideas !!!!!!! I have listened to all the tele pups on the CD but they all sound the same,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Thanks Jim

In a Tele, I really dig the STR-1 Vintage 54 for rhythm, and the STL-1B Vintage For Broadcaster in the Bridge. .........:)

For Classic Rock, I would not choose Bardens. Bardens are nice pickups; but very clean. A good friend of mine runs a set in his Tele and he has a hard time getting them to overdrive without sounding plastic and processed. I like the JD for about anything. You could also do the Quarter Pounder. It's loud with an almost P-90 tone.

I'd go with a set of QP's. Get the tapped version and you can run flat out for a totally rockin' tone or tap it and run in the vintage ballpark.

I'd go with a set of Antiquitys, or an Antiquity neck and Jerry Donahue bridge. If you need more overdrive try a Boss DS-1. I can play any style from country clean to Led Zep with my Tele, a DS-1 and a great tube amp. When I use it, I leave the DS-1 on all the time (like Vai and Satriani do) and go from sparkling clean to burning overdriven with just the volume control of my Tele. Lew

i run a hot its strat pup in the neck and a qp in the bridge, sounds killer. into a clean fender it still spanks a little, but in a much thicker less twangy way. a tapped version would give you a more twangy option. into a cranked fender it sounds nice and meaty with a great bite and tight bottom. into a marshall you get great rock tone
