Help me pick a distortion pedal

I'm pretty darn in love with my tone right now. I'm bonding with my amp, and my Fulltone Fulldrive 2.

Together they are taking my some beautiful places, but there are some times where I really want to get into some higher gain territories. Now I could turn around and turn up the gain on my amp, but I don't want to do that. I've got everything where it suits me the best momentarily.

So I am thinking about putting another pedal in the chain to get me there. What do you guys recommend?

I'm becoming kinda snobbish on my pedals so I won't mind saving up, and dropping some coin on a boutique piece.

musician sound design makes a few awesome pedals. they've got the silverstone overdrive which is really kick-ass, and the british steel which is hard to find. i own them both and they rock. they've got two new pedals coming out pretty soon, i think at the end of the month.

the silverstone is probably something you'll really like if you want something like the fulldrive but with more drive. it's not going to take you into metal territory or anything as it's a real world-class overdrive, but it's built solid like a tank and sounds phenomenal. i've tried this on my laney, genz-benz, marshall, and took it to guitar center to try out on a mesa 5:50 (which i aim to buy) and also a peavy classic 30. it was awesome on every amp which is the kind of pedal i've always wanted. i like being able to take it to different amps and get a great tone.

check it out. it's about the same price as a fulldrive, but i personally like it better. you use either a high or low boost and then there's a tone knob to dial in what you want. it's a very very good pedal and i'm thoroughly impressed.

Should it have tubes? Does higher gain mean metal territory?

Another +1 for the Box of Crunch by M.I... I like mine ALOT! Great sound and better value for money.

Are you going to use it on clean or distorted sound?

If it's clean, I give a big plus for that MI Audio Crunch Box, if you want it sound Marshall with low gain, mid gain, high gain, or even higher gain.

But, if you're going thru an already distorted channel, get the same firm's Boost'n'Buff.

Yeah it will be going through a distorted channel, but with only a very mild distortion.

If you want to keep the sound as it is, but just add gain - get the Boost'n'Buff or some other clean booster (But, in this one, you get flat boost, treble boost, and high impedance buffer , so I think it's quite a good one.) Blues Pro could also be cool, the Tube Zone has 18 volts, so it's got some boost as well, and the Crunch Box would add cool crunch and Marshall-flavor thru non-brit amp, and thru Marshall or sth alike, it should work at least as great. With none of them you can go totally wrong.
